The Holiday Hangover
Feels just as wicked as it sounds. Kinda like you’ve been on a wild bender for a week straight.
The buying, wrapping, managing emotions, parties and spending time doing things we don’t always love but it’s what is “expected” of us at this time of the year.
All that craziness can leave you feeling completely wiped out.
ZAPPED of all the energy you had left.
If you’re reading this today and finding yourself suffering from an emotional hangover.
You sister are not alone.
Most of us have no idea what just happened, we wake up feeling a little depressed and way less energized.
Here’s what I believe is happening.
What we’re experiencing an Emotional Hangover.
I mean just add booze to the mix on top of the heightened emotions.
And watch it all go up in flames like we poured a little gasoline on an already blazing fire.
We look forward to this time all year long, we plan for it, we know it’s coming but we never take the time to create a – how I’m going to take care of myself during the busiest time of the year plan!
You know protect your energy, take time to get really present, say no to the expectation that really don’t jive with what we want anymore.
What we do is push through, do what’s expected and wake up on the 26th saying is that it?
Over again for another year?
We’re left feeling let down.
And feeling like it’s not ENOUGH.
Instead of feeling refuelled and ready for the new year.
So, we start January 1st a little flat or moving at lightning speed on the energy of the hangover until it all comes crashing down usually the second week of January.
This year was different for me because I didn’t want to feel wiped out.
I took time to check in before every event.
Every dinner.
Every conversation.
And got clear on how I wanted to feel this holiday.
Because I realized how powerful my energy is and how much it affects everyone around me.
I let go of all the expectations, didn’t decorate as much as I normally would, allowed room for things to get a little crazy but exited stage left when the time intuitively felt right.
What a massive difference.
This year was the BEST Christmas I’ve had in a very long time!
I’m only sharing this because we’re just about to head into a brand New Year.
The year of WORTH.
The year I dedicate myself to empower 1,000 women own their worth and up level the shit out of their energy.
So I’ve been practicing what I preach.
The best gift that I can give you over this last week of December 2019 is to remind you that the best thing you can do for yourself is take time out.
Un-plug.
Detox your body, home + life as much as possible.
Have some stupid silly fun.
Let go of the need to be in control.
And lastly stop trying to manage everyone’s energy around you, just focus on yours.
Doing that will shift everyone around you naturally.
So if you’re feeling that emotional hangover today take a bath, go for a walk, journal or read a book. Find something that will help you disconnect to reconnect.
Much love to you all and may this last week become your most powerful week of the year!
